Social Protection Information System (SPIS)
The purpose of the Social Protection Information System (hereinafter the SPIS) is to record, in a uniform manner, and collect information on the social assistance (social benefits and reimbursement, social assistance for pupils, social services, activities undertaken in the area of the protection of children’s rights, social housing, etc.) offered across all Lithuanian municipalities, to analyse this information according to the municipalities, types of assistance and beneficiaries, and to prevent the simultaneous receipt of assistance in multiple municipalities.
The SPIS is a complete solution for residents to enjoy a package of public e-services, i.e. the residents may submit applications electronically (for a lump sum benefit for a newborn or an adopted child, child benefit, a lump sum benefit for women who are pregnant, a benefit for multiple births, guardianship benefit, bereavement allowance, etc.).
The SPIS system is used, on a daily basis, by officers across all 60 municipalities of the Republic of Lithuania and the representatives of other bodies. There are over 6,000 active users of the system. Every citizen of the Republic of Lithuania has the right to use the public e-services portal and to follow the progress of the services provided to them online.
The NEVDA team has developed and has been developing and supporting the Social Protection Information System since 2005. In 2013, the system had an analytics subsystem introduced, which is based on solutions created by the global leaders in analytic solutions SAP/Sybase IQ and Information Builders.
